Discovery: a calm, responsive nursery for babies
From six weeks old, your baby is cared for by familiar educators who follow their own sleep and feed routines. Every feed, nappy change and cuddle is a chance to connect.

Inside Discovery
Care is where learning starts
Babies learn through relationships. In Discovery, feeds, nappy changes and sleep are slow, one-to-one moments with an educator your baby knows. We talk, sing and wait for your baby to respond. We call this Little Roots.
The room is calm and uncluttered, with soft light, natural textures and low shelves of things to explore: wooden rings, fabric, shells and metal bowls. There's plenty of floor space to roll, crawl, pull up and take those first steps.

A day in Discovery
Your baby's day, not the clock
There's no group timetable in Discovery. Your baby's day follows their own rhythm, and it might include:
- A calm hello and handover with a familiar educator
- Floor play with treasure baskets, mirrors and soft textures
- Feeds and sleeps whenever your baby needs them
- Songs, rhymes, books and first signs in Auslan
- Time outside on the grass and in the garden
- A calm handover at pick-up, with notes on sleeps and feeds
What they learn
What your child is learning
Moving and growing
Rolling, crawling, pulling up and first steps, with space and time to try.
Voice and language
Babbling, first words and first signs, answered every time.
Senses and exploration
Textures, sounds, light and natural objects to touch, mouth and wonder at.
Feelings and friendships
Trust in familiar people, the foundation for everything that comes later.
Every care moment is a learning moment.

How we support babies at Lumora
For babies, care and learning are the same thing. A nappy change is a conversation. A feed is a quiet moment of connection. We slow these moments down on purpose, because that's where trust begins.
Our Inclusion Specialist also works in the room every day, supporting any child who needs a little more help, with or without a diagnosis.
For parents
What new parents ask us
Safe sleep
Babies sleep on their backs in cots set up to safe-sleep guidelines, and educators check on every sleeping baby at regular intervals.
Bottles and breastmilk
We store and prepare the expressed milk or formula you bring, and you're welcome to come in to breastfeed.
Starting solids
We introduce new foods in step with you, following your baby's cues and any advice from your health nurse.
What to pack
Bottles, milk or formula, a few changes of clothes, a hat and any comfort item. We provide nappies, wipes and bedding.
Moving on
When your child is ready
Children move on when they show clear, everyday signs they're ready, not on a birthday. We'll always talk it through with you first.

Pioneers: our toddler roomReady to move on when they can:
- Walk confidently
- Feed themselves with growing independence
- Tell us what they need with words or signs
