Welcome to Lumora Ballarat

A calm, curious place to spend the day

Lumora Ballarat is where the Lumora Approach took shape. Our rooms are filled with natural materials, real tools and things worth investigating, and our educators follow what children are curious about, then help them take the idea further.

It's a place where families get to know each other too. You'll see the same faces at drop-off each morning, and our staff are always happy to stop and talk.

Our rooms

Four rooms, and each move happens when your child is ready

Each room is set up for its age group, and children move on when they show clear signs they're ready, not on a birthday.

Outdoors

A garden made for play and discovery

The garden is a favourite part of the day. Children dig, climb, build and explore, and the ideas they start outside often carry straight back inside.

Outside, they test their balance, watch how puddles change and find out what's living in the garden. Educators are right there with them, helping with gear and joining in the discovery.

Gumboots and wet-weather gear in the bag means they can get straight out to play.

Support at Lumora

Extra support, inside the room

Our Ballarat Inclusion Specialist works alongside room educators every day, supporting any child who needs it, with or without a diagnosis. Children get help with communicating, calming down and making friends without ever leaving their group.

Our allied health partners, including an occupational therapist, speech pathologist and psychologist, visit the centre regularly, so support happens where your child already feels at home.

Every child deserves to sit in the circle.

Kinder

Getting ready for Prep, at your child's pace

Our Wanderers room runs a kinder program led by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher. Children take on longer projects, practise calming themselves, and build the friendships and focus that help them settle into school.

Because kinder is part of our long day care, your child can stay with familiar educators and friends all day, with no extra drop-offs.

Questions

Questions about Lumora Ballarat

What are your opening hours?

We're open Monday to Friday, from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, all year except public holidays.

Do you have places available?

It depends on the room and the days you need. Baby places are usually the hardest to find, so get in touch early. Call us on 03 5340 0726 or book a tour and we'll tell you what's available.

Do you run kinder in Ballarat?

Yes. Our Wanderers room runs a kinder program led by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher, as part of long day care.

What should my child wear?

Comfortable clothes that can get messy, a hat, and wet-weather gear in the colder months — the garden gets a lot of use, and we don't want anyone slowed down.

Can I visit before I enrol?

Yes, and we'd love you to. Book a tour with our Centre Manager to see the rooms, meet the educators and ask anything you like.
