Voyagers: bigger projects and calming strategies for three-year-olds
Three-year-olds are full of questions. In Voyagers, those questions become projects that can run for days or weeks, and children learn simple strategies to manage big feelings on their own.

Inside Voyagers
Following a question as far as it goes
If the group notices snails after rain, educators might set out magnifying glasses, books and clay the next morning. Children watch, draw, build and share their own theories about where snails go. The project lasts as long as their curiosity does.
This is our three-phase approach in action. We introduce an idea that sparks curiosity, children investigate it with educators alongside, and then they show what they've learned in their own way and use it somewhere new.

A day in Voyagers
Days built around projects
Every day is a little different, but it might include:
- Arriving and choosing where to start the day
- Morning circle and Body Ready movement
- Project time in small groups
- Morning tea and lunch together, serving themselves
- A sleep or quiet rest after lunch
- Outdoor play and afternoon experiences
What they learn
What your child is learning
Thinking and discovery
Asking questions, testing ideas, early maths and science.
Feelings and friendships

Strategies they own, not rules they follow.
Bloom Skills
How we support three-year-olds at Lumora
Bloom Skills are simple, named strategies for calming down. Educators model them, children practise them every day, and over time they start reaching for them on their own.
Our Inclusion Specialist also works in the room every day, supporting any child who needs a little more help, with or without a diagnosis.
For parents
What parents of three-year-olds ask us
Three-Year-Old Kinder
Ask us about funded Three-Year-Old Kinder places and hours at your nearest centre, and how they appear on your fees.
Friendships and conflict
Disagreements are part of learning to play together. Educators coach both children through it, so they learn to share ideas and solve problems themselves.
Rest
Children who still need a sleep have one. Others have quiet time with books or calm activities.
What to pack
A change of clothes, a hat, a water bottle and any comfort item.
Moving on
When your child is ready
Children move on when they show clear, everyday signs they're ready, not on a birthday. We'll always talk it through with you first.

- Sit with a group for 10 to 15 minutes
- Follow directions with several steps
